New Years Resolutions

Inspired by Nita, pardon the lion hair. From me, to you guys <3

My my, where has 2011 gone? This year went so quick, and I can't tell if that is a good or a bad thing. So many things happened this year, I can't even begin to name them all. I got onstage with one of my favorite people in the world, Jared Leto, at a 30 Seconds to Mars show (My 4th time seeing them! Haha). I returned to my beautiful Southern California and got to see my favorite FMX riders at X Games. And that's just the start of it.

But, for all the good, there was also some challenging times I had to pull through. Whoever writes those Teen drama shows, needs to bump the ages up to 17, honestly. I thought that the stuff I saw on TV was all rubbish, but it's scary how in an instant your life becomes just another unbelievable episode. Though I've swam through those waters, gotten drug down by the current and beaten against the shore, I've emerged a more observant person; not only of myself, but of others as well. I've made my amends and carried on, which is more than I could ever ask for.

So, what does today mean?
A fresh slate, another try.

Some people think of New Years as simply putting up another calender or drinking until you can't even remember what year it is. But, for me, it's never been like that. To tell you the truth, I've always made New Years resolutions, and I don't think I've ever gone through with them. There's always something I wish I would have done the year before, yet I never did. I've decided this year is going to be different. I'm going to stick with it this year, which is a challenge to stick with anything if you know me.

There's many reasons why I want to reinvent myself this New Years, or at least start on the path of doing so. The main reason being that this is my last year as a real kid. I'm Eighteen, and while I've already got the College going on for me, I'm also going to be graduating from High School this year. I've got my whole life in front of me, and each day is another step towards that looming door. I asked myself "Why not now? Why not take the step from just some kid, reliant on everyone, to a true adult, reliant on themselves?"

So, I've compiled a list of things I'm going to do this year. Because, if I don't do them now, when the hell am I ever going to do them?

1. Keep a blog everyday from January 1st, 2011 to January 1st, 2012.

As you should know by now, this blog is my project. I said in my last post that my blogs don't stick around for very long, that's an understatement. I figured that my life is a story to tell, and right now, that story is pretty boring. If I'm going to document my daily trials, I might as well strive to make them interesting and entertaining. I want my life to be something, and this blog is going to be the big kicker to jumpstart it. And, even if I can't get a blog posted daily, I'll at least write one and post it the next day. It's a challenge of wit and determination, one which I'm willing to take up the challenge on.

2. Tone up before July 15th, 2011.

Ah, the typical New Years resolution. I've been telling myself this one for ages, and now i'm finally going to do it. Now, I know that I'm not a whale (I'm not even close, no matter how much I want to call myself one), but it would be nice to have a bikini body for my cruise this summer that I'm proud of. I've always dreamed of it, like every good media slave, so I'm up for the task. Call me typical, but I might as well preoccupy myself with working out and eating healthy.

3. Clean out my iPod's songs and replace them with new ones/ALBUM ARTWORK!
This one is going to be a hard one, even though you probably chuckled when reading that comment. My iPod, as cliche of me to say it, is my baby. It's filled with music that brings back memories of the good times I've had throughout the years. But see, here's the problem, it's filled with music way back from 7th and 8th grade. Now, you may think that my iPod is now filled with Backstreet Boys and such, but that is a negative. I've actually got good music on there, but music I haven't listened to in ages and skip every time it comes up on shuffle. This task is another transitional one, one from High School student to College and beyond. It's tough, but you've gotta' do it sometime.
Oh yeah, AND I NEED ALBUM ARTWORK FOR EVERY SINGLE SONG ON MY IPOD. I'm tired of the gray music note popping up every other song! It's a pet-peeve of mine I've let get out of hand.

4. Create a Ravenclaw robe completely from scratch.
Ok, so this one's pretty silly, but I am still a teenager, and I still do love Harry Potter to death. I've recently taken up a zest for sewing, which I am actually good at for a change. So, I'm determined to create a replica of the robes Ravenclaw students wear in the movies. Ravenclaw is my house after all, so I might as well dress the part, whilst admiring something I made by hand. This resolution shouldn't be too hard to accomplish, and will be completed shortly (Because I've got Joann's gift cards!)

5. Donate blood as many times as I can throughout the year.
I'm an avid blood donater, though this year I have gotten, can you say...lazy? The bad thing about being a donater whilst underage that that you need parental consent to go through with it. Now that I'm 18, I don't have to wait for a convenient time for my parents to go with me to the donation center and sign for me. Thus, this factor has spurred my laziness by constantly putting it off. Now, I'm going to try and get appointments after my wait time has ended, starting January 1st or so. It's a simple thing I can do to save a life, and I'm proud of that fact.

6. Complete the first 100 movies of theyshootpictures.com's list of 1000 Greatest Films of all Time
Now, this one is going to be a long shot, but my friend who's a complete movie guru suggested it to me.I may or may not finish this resolution, but it's the fact that I've dived into it that counts. I actually have viewed a good handful of their top 100 movies, but that means I'll just jump down to number 101 and so-on. This is more of a way to culture myself and see some classic which I have completely overlooked. Because I always do love a good film or two.

I might update this later when I come up with some more. But for now, happy New year everyone! Let's bring on 20ll, and the challenges i've set forth for it!

  1. Ahh. I hadn't watched that video yet. It's ah-mazing, by the way. And don't pardon the lion hair. I like it. :) I plan on reading this bloggity all the way to the end, and then some. Keep at it, Party Girl.

    New Year's Resolution
    7. Prove relation to Christopher Andrew Pontius and copyright the name Party Girl. Then find unsuspecting stereo salesmen and PARTY IT UP!

Though they may not mind...and they'll probably get a little creeper on you, it'll be worth it in the end. We shall film it. Send it to Jackass. And get you a job. :)

    Happy Belated New Years!!!
